Generally, April 15 of each year is the due date for filing your IRS federal individual income tax return if you are a calendar year filer whose tax year ends on December 31. If your “tax home” or “abode” is outside the United States, your deadline for filing your income tax return should automatically be extended to June 15 if you attach a statement to your tax return describing you qualifying under, and citing, the relevant section of Treasury Reg. § 1.6081-5.
